Garden Fair Reflections
Yesterday was a milestone that I will cherish forever—it was my first Garden Fair as The Backyard Bee, and my heart is full of gratitude for the incredible support I received. Whether you stopped by in person, connected online, or simply sent good vibes from afar, your encouragement has meant the world to me.
Starting a new business is a leap of faith. It’s exciting and daunting in equal measure. But deep down, I know I’m on the right path. The future belongs to all of us who believe in supporting local businesses, reclaiming power over our food systems, and nurturing our communities. And this community—Sanford and the surrounding towns—is everything to me. It’s where I grew up, made memories, and formed lasting connections. From my school days to now, this place has shaped who I am, and it continues to inspire me every day.
The Garden Fair wasn’t just an event; it was a celebration of this very community. Standing among vendors like Farmfield, Tibbetts Farm, and the Sanford High School Agriculture and Landscape SRTC program (to name just a few) was such an honor. The passion and dedication shared by everyone involved were palpable. Meeting so many amazing people who are as enthusiastic about bees, beekeeping, and pollinator support as I am was a humbling experience. I got to share my love for apiculture, chat about the things I’ve learned, and even explore all that I’m still discovering.
What struck me most was the spirit of learning and togetherness that filled the air. The community didn’t just show up—they showed up with curiosity, compassion, and a desire to connect. It’s moments like these that remind me why I do what I do.
So, thank you. “Thank you” feels almost too small for the depth of appreciation I feel, but it’s a start. Working with bees, growing good food, and being a mindful steward of the land—and hopefully, a good human—isn’t just what I do; it’s who I am. Your support affirms that there’s a place in this world for small businesses like mine to thrive and make a difference.
When you choose to support a local business or a small farm, you’re lifting up people like me—individuals with big dreams, a deep connection to their community, and a drive to make our little corner of the world a better place. I’m excited about the connections we’ve made and look forward to fostering even more in the future.
Here’s to a community that grows together, one bee, one blossom, and one step at a time. 🐝🌱
